    set_debris_paramsAction

Set the debris scenario the instrument is modelling. Accepts any combination of size in millimetres (1-15), relative speed in km/s (5-15), altitude in km (200-2000), and whether the ionosphere is in daylight. Omitted values keep their current setting. Values outside the valid range are clamped. This moves the on-screen sliders and redraws the chart, exactly as if a person had dragged them.

    run_forward_modelAction

Run the detectability forward model on the parameters currently loaded in the instrument and return the score from 0 to 100, where higher means the debris fragment's plasma wake is easier to detect. Does not change any settings — call set_debris_params first if you want a different scenario.

    sweep_altitudeAction

Run the forward model across all eight altitude bins (200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and 2000 km), holding size, speed and lighting at their current values. Returns the score for every bin plus the best altitude and its score. Use this to find where a given fragment would be most detectable.

    explain_regimeAction

Explain in plain English why detectability peaks where it does — the ionospheric physics behind the curve's shape, and how size, speed and day/night each move it. Use this to interpret a result for a person rather than to compute one.
